Please come to your regional math textbook workshop for a chance to see the latest texts and how they align with the Montana Common Core Mathematics Standards (Montana College and Career Standards). Sarah Zook, MNCESR Mathematics Facilitator, will present her findings as she reviewed the books and determined how they aligned with our standards. Please consider bringing a team consisting of an elementary math educator from each of grade bands K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 and at least one secondary math educator and administrators to hear Sarah’s analysis and review and evaluate the texts which will be on hand. After the presentation, teams will be asked to evaluate specific aspects of the texts such as quality of questioning, support materials, and online resources to determine the best potential fit for their schools. The teams will be asked to report their findings to the group for discussion. Books from the following publishers will be present for review: Singapore, Pearson, Houghton-Mifflin, Glencoe, McGraw-Hill, Curriculum Associates, and more. Sarah Zook and Diana Knudson, Golden Triangle Director, will facilitate the workshop. The fee for participating schools will be $300 per school (A, B, or C) for up to five educators. The fee for small rural schools will be $100 per school for up to two educators. The fees include beverages, lunch, and materials. If schools wish to bring more than the above numbers of educators, there will be an additional charge of $50 per educator. MNCESR will invoice the schools after the workshop. Coffee, juice, and water will be served in the morning and lunch will be catered at noon for the participants to enjoy while networking. Seven OPI renewal units will be offered to all participants. This workshop is a collaboration of MNCESR and GTCC.
